Ellen is the driving force behind PWDS team; her vision and drive make the team and the training we provide the best it possibly can be. Ellen’s regional and national leadership in workforce planning ensures that the pharmacy workforce is provided the best opportunities to succeed and develop to their full potential and in turn be able to provide the highest level of care to our patients.

Jen is the creative member of our team. Her experience spans both, community and hospital pharmacy, as well as IT programme design. She has ensured that the PWDS training prorgammes under her care have been updated to meet the ever changing needs of our service users, giving her trainees the best possible learner experience.

Pharmacy Technician
Phil is an enthusiastic and charismatic member of the PWDS team. Phil started off working in small community Pharmacy before moving onto work in a technical services unit. He then started working in the parenteral services unit at UHBristol Foundation Trust where he is currently the education and training lead. He brings this experience and expertise to his PWDS director role and has a great rapport with all our service users.

Kate is the bubbly, enthusiastic and environmentally conscious member of the PWDS team. She is highly organised and passionate with a wealth of information and knowledge. She has many years of hospital pharmacy experience, specialising in medicines information in Cornwall, and was helping with the ACPT/PIPC programme for many years before joining the team in 2020. She is committed to improving and providing high quality training and support to pharmacy technicians.

Mary is an extremely motivated, member of the PWDS team with more than 30 years’ NHS experience in a wealth of pharmacy practice settings. She is committed to promoting the pharmacy technician role and providing professional leadership which she hopes will inspire others to provide exceptional person centred care in medicines optimisation across all sectors of practice.

Vicky is an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician, with a passion for education. After spending 10 years in a hospital pharmacy setting carrying out a variety of roles, she moved into General Practice. She is committed to providing support and guidance to both trainees and educational supervisors to ensure future pharmacy technicians are given an excellent learning experience.

Foundation Trainee Pharmacist Training Programme Director

Pharmacist
Helen is a passionate educator and researcher; her enthusiasm and knowledge is reflected in the high quality training and personal support she provides to both future pharmacists and their supervisors. Helens understanding of the contribution pharmacy teams make to patients’ health and medicines across different practice settings and her awareness of educational literature has resulted in numerous local and national innovations in the design and delivery of pre and post registration training. Helens research interests include professionalism, trainee wellbeing and leadership within the pharmacy team.

HEE Pharmacy Workforce Project Manager

Caroline is an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician , with a passion for promoting and supporting a pharmacy workforce of the future. She has over 28 years’ experience in a variety of NHS pharmacy roles from Oncology Service Manager to Commissioning and more recently project management. She is currently working on regional projects related to the promotion of pharmacy careers to school aged children and the construction of a digital tool kit to support system level collaborative roles.

Jane joined the team at PWDS in October 2021 as a Pharmacy Workforce Project Manager. Jane brings with her a wealth of experience from Community, Primary Care and more recently the Acute Sector. She is a strong advocate of career development across all areas of Pharmacy as well as a passionate supporter of a collaborative approach to medicines, ensuring that the patient is the focus of all we strive to achieve.

Renata is the beating heart of the PWDS team, not only does she co-ordinate the smooth running of the department but she also provides invaluable knowledge and support to the team. Renata ensures that PWDS is performing efficiently by pulling on her vast experience of administration and finance.

Katherine Sheen

Programme Support Officer

Kath is a passionate and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician. She has more than 20 years’ experience working in Community Pharmacy, Acute hospitals and more recently in Community Rehabilitation Hospitals and Domiciliary Visits. Kath is an experienced Educational/Practice Supervisor, offering support and guidance for Pharmacy Technicians, Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians and Trainee Pharmacists throughout their training. Kath is programme support officer for units 1 and 2 of the PWDS Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation Training Programme

Programme Support Officer

Elle joined the team in 2020 as one of our programme support officers for the ACPT training programme. Elle started off her career in community pharmacy before moving into a hospital environment and becoming a medicines optimisation pharmacy technician. Elle now works in a split role between a GP surgery and an acute hospital in Cornwall so she has a wealth of knowledge to share and support our trainees.
