The Outsourced Items Final Accuracy Checking (OIFAC) training programme is managed by Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS) and is available to learners throughout the UK.
The training programme has been developed to provide the training and assessment of individuals who have been delegated the task of final accuracy checking of ready to administer/outsourced items under the supervision of a delegated person.
The training programme is open to applicants from MS licensed and Section 10 units across the United Kingdom.
The training and assessment programme has been developed for individuals who have been identified as appropriate and delegated this role by the Accountable Pharmacist or Production Manager including the following:
All technical services staff members must be given authorisation to participate in the assessment by the Accountable Pharmacist or Production Manager
Standard operating procedures must be in place defining individual’s roles, responsibilities, and duties.
A learner will only be signed off to accuracy check outsourced items and must fit in with the overall dispensing policy.
Before entry onto the programme, applicants need to fulfil the following entry criteria:

The unit must be able to offer an appropriate workload to enable the learner the opportunity to complete the training programme within at least one area requiring final accuracy checking, e.g., Centralised Intravenous Additives (CIVAs), Parenteral Nutrition (PN), Cytotoxics, other Aseptically prepared products (e.g., Monoclonal Antibodies MABs), non-sterile services and Radiopharmacy in technical services.
PWDS has designed the entry requirements to ensure that the OIFAC learner has sufficient experience and has developed attributes and attitudes to accept the responsibility of the role.

The scope of the programme is limited to final accuracy checking of outsourced items within pharmacy technical services. It is intended to be flexible, allowing trusts to implement it locally. Local standard operating procedures should be in place and GMP/QA systems should be always adhered to.
Learners and educational supervisors will be provided with a Moodle account login and once enrolled can access the training programme in Moodle. Learners will find all the necessary resources, tasks, knowledge and specific templates required for uploading evidence to the e-portfolio. Moodle is also a source of rich support. Learners can access virtual drop-in sessions and connect with peers.
