Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS) is pleased to announce the launch of the Outsourced Items Final Accuracy Checking (OIFAC) Training Programme, now available to eligible learners working in aseptic services across the UK.
The programme has been developed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills and competency assessment required to undertake the delegated role of final accuracy checking of ready-to-administer and outsourced medicines. By supporting high standards of quality assurance and patient safety, the training will help strengthen workforce capability across pharmacy technical services.
Designed for staff working in MS Licensed and Section 10 Units, the OIFAC programme focuses on developing competence in final accuracy checking, professional accountability, decision-making and error prevention. Learners will gain the confidence to work within locally agreed parameters, apply robust checking processes and recognise when escalation or referral is required.
Eligible applicants include pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy support workers, science manufacturing technicians and pharmaceutical scientists, subject to authorisation by their Accountable Pharmacist or Production Manager.
The programme forms part of PWDS’s ongoing commitment to supporting workforce development within aseptic services and helping organisations build a skilled, competent and sustainable workforce.
Through enhanced checking practices and improved professional development opportunities, the OIFAC programme aims to contribute to safer services, reduced error rates and better outcomes for patients.
