Are you interested in becoming a Neurodiversity Workforce Champion?
The PWDS Neurodiversity Workforce Champion training is an impactful, multi-professional programme designed to build awareness, understanding, and confidence around neurodivergence in the workplace, creating champions who help foster inclusion and belonging for everyone.
The lead for the programme is a self-identified neurodivergent individual with lived experience who is has distinction in level 3 certificate in neurodiversity and inclusion. The training also aligns with:
The training programme is open to all healthcare professions and roles.
Before entry onto the programme the applicants must state why they wish to become a Neurodiversity Workforce Champion and have the support of their organisation to fulfil this role.
This programme consists of 3 tiers.
Tier 1: 7 e-learning modules covering introduction to neurodiversity, autism, ADHD, Tourette syndrome, learning difficulties, communication and overwhelm.
Tier 2: 3 hour online workshop on creating neuro-inclusive environments.
Tier 3: an all day online workshop covering recruitment, policies, reasonable adjustments, models of disability and equality act how to be a neurodiversity workforce champion.
The programme gives you access to our virtual learning environment further. This gives you details about the structure and contents of the programme and assessment processes.
Upon completion of this training, participants will become Neurodiversity Workforce Champions in their workplaces. Helping to break down barriers so all team members can work to their full potential.
The learning outcomes are as follows:
Workshop 1
• Discussion of topics covered in e-learning
• Strengths of neuro-inclusive teams and discussion of ND strengths in general
• Discussion of personal experiences of neurodiversity
• Co-morbidities
• Intersectionality and creating neuro-inclusive environments
Workshop 2
• Understand terms such as ‘equity’ and ‘diversity’
• Explore disability models and the Equality Act 2010
• Understand responsibilities under the Safe Learning Environment Charter
• Discuss reasonable adjustments
• Understand the role of the ND workforce champion
