Last week NHS England released their report titled “NHS Long Term Workforce Plan”. The report details the future of the workforce in the NHS, including pharmacy professionals.
The report sets out modelling and development for the workforce over the next 15 years; to support this growth for pharmacy, by 2028/29, an increase of 29% for training places for Pharmacists will be made available. The plan also recognised the need to expand the number of Pharmacy Technicians to support the wider pharmacy workforce, in all pharmacy settings.
Ellen Williams (PWDS Director) says ‘PWDS welcomes the publication of the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, the plan brings huge opportunities to support the development of the pharmacy workforce across all sectors of pharmacy practice and at PWDS we will be looking to understand how our strategy and business aligns with the ambitions of the plan and how we can support our stakeholders’
